Paper "Wooden" Crate

Welcome Stampin' Friends!
The cute little “wooden” crate box on page 148 of the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog jumped right out at me! I work with paper, my hubby is a master carpenter, among many other things, and of course works with wood. Which would also explain my love of wood mount stamps. So, when a customer asked me how they made that sweet crate because she didn't see a "die for that", I was curious. Looks fairly simple. I’ll figure it out!
Examined the photo to get perceptive on the size, dimensions, etc., in comparison to the Love You More card. Well, low and behold…someone already figured it out! Thank you Jackie Topa! You’re cleverness has saved me a lot of time!

Just adorable! I'm going to make little note cards to put in mine, just haven't gotten around to it yet!

So, here ya go! You will need:
  • One 9" x 3" piece of card stock. Score at 2 1/2" and 6 1/2" on the long side.I prefer a wood color card stock; Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, or what ever you like. Although the Kraft Card Stock is heavier and sturdy to use for 3D projects.
  • Four 1" x 5" pieces of card stock, each scored at 1/2" on both ends.
I stamped all pieces with the Hardwood Background stamp before scoring and punching the handles. You can also sand the edges a bit to give it that old, weathered look, like my real wooden crates have.

That's it. Super simple and easy to put together.
  • Punch handles on both ends of the 9" x 3" piece. I used the Classic Label Punch, but the retired Word Window Punch would give your crate more of a realistic look.
  • Attach the side slats using Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Fast Fuse, or Tear and Tape Adhesive.
Here's Jackie's visual.

Go ahead and make one or two! I'm gonna have to add a little white-ish spot on mine, since that's what the birds did to my real one on the patio! LOL!
Have a great day and visit again soon!
