Create the Holiday Ornament!

This is my version of the Holiday Ornament on the cover of Our Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog 2012! I had a lot of fun playing and teaching my customers how to re-create this beautiful ornament. It is a gift in itself! With the framelits, stamp set and DSP, you can make so many different kinds of ornaments for your friends and family. Use as gift topper, tag, party hostess gift...they will be impressed with your talents and the love you put into your creations!
These directions are just how to assemble...you can change up the cardstock, stamps, DSP, embellishments, etc. to make it your own!

1. Start by stamping and cutting out 20 of each ornament design, using Cherry Cobbler for one stamp and Old Olive for the other. Stamp on Very Vanilla or Whisper White cardstock. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement and to save cardstock. Cut them out using framelits and the Big Shot,
or by hand with our scissors.

2. Score 15 (of each style) of the cut out ornaments and fold in half, using a bone folder, with stamped sides facing each other. Leave 5 flat
Using Multipurpose Glue, adhere 3 scored and folded pieces together
to form a little 3D ornament.
           3. Assemble the little ones the same way, and adhere to the flat
                              ones, finishing all 5 ornaments.
4. If you desire, using 2-way glue on all edges, adhere some Stampin' Glitter Dazzling Diamonds, and let dry completely before assembling the ornament.

That was the time consuming part. Now the magic happens!

5.Punch out a circle, using 1 3/8" punch, from any color cardstock, we will cover it up anyway. Add Multipurpose Glue to the circle and attach each large flat cut out ornament piece "upside down" just so they are barely touching each other. You can do this process on a Silicone Craft Mat, but I used less hot glue and didn't really need it.

6. Attach the folded ornament pieces right on top of the flat ones.
The Multipurpose Glue gives you enough wiggle room to center on flat
piece before it dries.
7. Once you have all 5 assembled, I punched a small hole in the center top one to add a Linen Thread hanger (or use ribbon). When you are finished making the ornament, you can easily add the hanger.

8. Cut 5 pieces of Cherry Cobbler Tull (about 3 scallops long or 5 inches),
stick you finger in the center of the tulle and twist to make a little sprig
and place in between each of the ornament pieces you already attached.
I just twisted them in there. They will be hot glued later.

9. Make 5 loops with 12 inch pieces of twine. I wrapped twice and
knotted the ends. Lay them in center of large (Old Olive) pieces.
10. Heat up that glue gun! Using globs of hot glue, attach each little (Cherry Cobbler) ornament atop of the tulle. (See finished ornament pic below).
Hold each one a bit vertical until cool.

11. Cut 1" x 12" piece of Designer Series Paper. If you do not have the rosette die (like me!), use your Simply Scored Tool (which everyone should have)! Score at 1/2" intervals along the entire piece. Fold up and down (valley and mountain folds). Kinda like you did as a kid with gum wrappers!
12. Wrap Sticky Strip around one side, over bottom, and up other side. Take off red strip, and attach both ends together to form the rosette.

13. Glob a whole bunch of hot glue in the center of your ornament and lay the    rosette piece in the center, pushing down with a little presser.
Awesome! You did it! Now make a few more for gifts!
The first one is always the hardest....10..15...more are much easier!
I stamped and cut enough pieces to make 10 ornaments at once,
so assembly went pretty fast. Have fun!
